Not everyone wins the lottery, although everyone who plays thinks they can. Statistically you won't though, and you shouldn't count on it. So rather than using valuable resources towards a game you won't win, why not build something.
We all make choices of how to spend our resources. Money, time, energy, career capital. It all either gets spent, or reserved for the 'right' opportunity. The thing is, when you spend those resources like you're playing the lottery, buying a ticket to someone else's game, you rarely get a return on that investment.
However, if instead you choose to build something, you get back what you put in, and then some. Especially when you team up with others who stand to gain from the same thing you are building.
If you are frustrated with the lack of vision, or lack of process in your company, build it. You just might find that upon laying the first brick of that foundation, that others are looking for the same things, and will follow your lead.
If you are looking for the 'perfect' job, or the 'perfect' company, just know that it doesn't exist. Or at least you're as likely to find it as winning the lottery. So just build it. It'll be faster, and once it's built, you will have earned it, and then you can help others win the lottery by recruiting them to your team.
